I’ve been fascinated by gadgets for as long as I can remember. A note on one of my grade school report cards pretty much said it all: “Julie continues to bring little toys and things to trade with the boys.” That curiosity never really went away. It just evolved.

With my dad’s encouragement, I grew up taking apart radios and appliances to see how they worked (and to collect the magnets, of course). From my first Texas Instruments TI‑99/4A and Commodore 64 to my current MacBook Pro, I’ve always loved exploring new tech and sharing what I learn.

In 1997, after running three dial‑up BBSes through the early 90s, I launched The Gadgeteer, a small passion project that grew into one of the web’s longest‑running and most respected product review sites. Over 28 years, I published thousands of hands‑on reviews with a team of talented contributors and built an amazing community of fellow gadget lovers.

After transferring ownership of The Gadgeteer in 2025, I shifted my energy to YouTube. Creating videos that showcase the same curiosity and honest perspective that fueled my site for nearly three decades.

This blog, juliestrietelmeier.com, is my new digital home where I share my latest videos, tech discoveries, and occasional thoughts on life as a lifelong gadget nerd turned video creator.
